Today I did one of the things I was looking forward to the most in all this wedding preparation: the music list. It was so much fun looking through my iTunes library choosing songs that are significant to our relationship as well as fun to dance to. In a library of over 5,000 songs, I was able to pull 51 that fit us and our wedding.

It was actually a bit laughable to look over lists of the most popular wedding songs. Lauren and I agreed that we could basically tell the DJ not to play any music on his company’s “Top 200″ list. I’m not sure if he’s used to customers just handing him a DVD full of music to play but neither one of us want to hear some of the junk that was supposedly the most requested.

We also picked the song for our first dance (which will remain a secret for now)! In fact, I think we’ll keep the whole playlist a secret for now.

I would like to quickly add to my new Twitter account explanation. Folks, you need to be very conscious of how much information you share on the Internet. My respect for this medium has significantly changed over the last several years and I’ve learned that nothing is secret, even if you think it is. Once you post something on Facebook or Twitter or your blog, it is no longer up to you who sees it. Please consider this before sharing your opinions about your job, family, or community.

As it turns out, TwitWipe is awful. My new Twitter account is @dcwral. No, I do not work for WRAL. Yes, I can offer a full explanation for why I created a new account.

This blog is very much a work in progress, and has been since its inception. All 2010 and 2011 posts have been removed and I am currently in the process of deleting all 15k tweets from my Twitter account. I think the best way to a fresh start is to not have a history.

I am not embarrassed by old posts but I am a different person that I was three years ago. I honestly don’t know what kind of things I was tweeting in 2009. Did I actually care that the things I was posting were public? Was I careful not to share sensitive, private information? I’d rather just start over.

This blog may actually get put to use in the near future but really only time will tell.
